This includes learning about all the parts of a guitar. If you’re going to learn how to play an instrument, you need to be very familiar with it, its construction, and all the different parts that it contains. So, let’s take a closer look at the guitar parts that you’ll find on a guitar.
The Three Main Parts of a Guitar
When you take a look at a guitar, you’ll find that there are three main guitar parts there. There is the hollow body of the guitar, the neck of the guitar, and the head of the guitar.
The Guitar Body – The guitar body is the main part of the guitar, and one of the most important parts of the body is called the soundboard. The soundboard is a piece of wood that is on the front of the body and it works to make the guitar loud enough for everyone to hear it. In the part of the guitar known as the soundboard, you’ll find large hole, which is the sound hole. Usually it is round and in the center of the body. Another of the guitar parts you’ll find on the body is the bridge, which anchors the strings on the body side.
The Neck – The neck of the guitar is the part that has the frets on it, and the face of the neck is called the fingerboard. The frets are special guitar parts that are metal and they are actually cut into the fingerboard at intervals that are very specific.
The Head – The head of the guitar is where the top of the guitar strings are attached and the tuning heads are here as well, attached to tuning knobs. When you turn these knobs, you can decrease or increase the tension of the strings so that you can tune them up to where they should be.
The Strings
When it comes to guitar parts, the strings are very important to the instrument. Today they are usually mad of organo-carbon or metal materials. The strings of a guitar run parallel to the guitars neck and they can be depressed against different frets to change the string’s length, changing the sound that the string makes.
Inlays of a Guitar
Inlays are guitar parts that are usually just there for great looks. Usually they are on the headstock, on the body, and on the headstock as well. They can be very simple or even very intricate and artistic works as well. Some even entire the entire body of the guitar and some can extend onto the back of the guitar as well. These inlays are actually set right into the surface of the guitar.
Electronic Parts
Of course many times there are electric guitar parts on a guitar as well. Often guitar pickups are used on guitars in order to pick up the noise that the guitar makes and often they can change the sound of the guitar as well.
