Acoustic Electric Guitar

Acoustic electric guitar has some great advantages over just an acoustic guitar, or just an electric guitar. You can take it with you where ever you go without having to lug a heavy guitar amp with you if you just wanted to play it without the guitar amplifier, and then you also have the option of plugging it into a number of various guitar amps to crank it up full volume, and get all kinds of different guitar effects.

There are even different kinds of acoustic electric guitars. If the guitar pickups that are attached to the guitar do not get the signal from the guitar strings themselves but instead they get the signal from the guitar body that is vibrating, then most would consider that an acoustic electric guitar.

But then there are hollow body electric guitars which a lot of guitarists would call a semi acoustic guitar. This kind of acoustic electric guitar has the same kind, or type of guitar pickup as a regular electric guitar.
